Your proposed modifications sound good, just be sure to make your player texture and enemy texture yourself if you want those to each count as a significant modification for points. Also be sure to either make the music yourself (if you are only changing the music) or change out the entire soundscape with sounds you think fit well (which don't all have to be made by you) to get a significant modification that will count for points.
